Premiership Markets Shift like the Tides Following Round 3

With three rounds of the Toyota 2018 AFL Premiership competition in the books, the premiership market has shifted quite a bit from where it was ahead of the season and even from where things stood when we last checked on March 25.

Adelaide has shortened by 50 cents, from $6.50 to $6.00. They were the favourites before the season started.

The Sydney Swans have moved to the top of the list and now offer a $5.50 quote to take it all in 2018.

Port Adelaide has shortened from $9.00 to $6.50 as the result of going unbeaten thus far.

The GWS Giants have fallen slightly out of favour, lengthening from $6.50 when we last checked to $7.00. The Richmond Tigers share that price and have not changed since late in March.

The Geelong Cats have been demoted to $11.00 after being as low as $8.00. The Melbourne Demons have treaded water and remained at $11.00, while the Essendon Bombers, as low as $13 in late March, are now priced at $31.00, so if you had faith in them before the home-and-away season started, now may be a good time to demonstrate that faith.

The Hawthorn Hawks remain at $21. The Western Bulldogs have been consistent only from the viewpoint that their odds have gone from $23 to $34.00 to $51, equivalent to the St. Kilda Saints and Collingwood Magpies.

In the bottom third of the pre-season guesses, The West Coast Eagles take the prize for fluctuations. They have shifted from $51 out to $67 and have now dropped to $26. The new Optus Stadium has been kind to them, the recent victory over the Cats aided their cause considerably, and they have risen from 13th to ninth in the premiership market.

Fremantle has improved dramatically as well, down to $51 following Round 3.

The Carlton Blues are all the way out to $501 from their pre-season price of $101. That same $501 price now applies to the Brisbane Lions.

The North Melbourne Kangaroos have held steady at $151.00 and the Gold Coast Suns have shed $100 from their pre-season price down to $151.00
