AFL Round 10 Guesses are Ours but We Would Prefer to Blame Anyone

In honour of Sir Doug Nicholls, here are our predictions for Round 10 of the Toyota 2019 AFL Premiership competition.

Remember, we are playing fantasy footy here. Do not punt based on our guesses, even if you are playing with the bookies’ money, or you are so well heeled that you could set flame to the $900 we pretend to risk and enjoy the couple minutes of heat and light.

We use Ladbrokes for our prices, so thanks to those lads. Be careful wagering, so as not to end up as broke lads or lasses.

First up, Sydney Swans are hosting the Collingwood Magpies at Sydney Cricket Ground. Thank you, AFL fixture makers. The $315 backing the Swans tempts to make us swoon, but we will take the easy as pie route and back Collingwood for the $135.

This week’s holiday in the Tasmanian paradise belongs to the Hawthorn Hawks and the Port Adelaide Power. If it were real money, we would just skip this one. The Hawks are 4.5-point favourites. Our coin flip came up heads. Heads starts with an “h,” which forms a nice alliterative effect with Hawthorn and Hawks, so we will go with Hawthorn in the pursuit of $175.

Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne Roos at Marvel Stadium makes us smell a trap, but we will back the costly Dogs for $162.

How the bookies made the Adelaide Crows 9.5-point favourites over the West Coast Eagles is a proposition that eludes us, as the Adelaide Oval ground means nothing. The Crows must win, but we are taking the Eagles to deliver us $224 as our upset pick.

Thanks again, AFL, for Geelong Cats v Gold Coast Suns. This one is $114 in our pockets for backing the Cats.

The Richmond Tigers face the Essendon Bombers at MCG. The AFL giveth and the AFL taketh away, but we will take the Tigers by the tails in the hope of our faith delivering us $142.

St. Kilda Saints and the Carlton Blues at the Comic Book Store is the Saints preserve us game of the week and we expect the Saints to answer our prayers with $142.

Brisbane Lions are in Perth to play the Dockers. Ladbrokes has the Dockers favoured by 4.5, but we will make this another of our upset picks and take the Lions for a possible $207.
